About Me

Welcome to my blog! This is just a start-up unprofessional blog in no way related to my workforce.

My name is Jessica, Jess to my friends I am a 22 year old university graduate from Nottingham Trent University with a 2:1 (hons) in media and communications. I live in Ashford, in Kent, but it is my hope that I will end up in Edinburgh - my favourite city in the world FYI! I currently work as an editor for a small company called CTC Legal Media, who publish The Patent Lawyer Magazine, The Trademark Lawyer Magazine and The Copyright Lawyer Magazine. It is an international publication informing readers of the ever changing and fast paced intellectual property industry. We work closely alongside Lawyers, Attorneys, and in-house council members. A really diverse and fascinating industry to be in!

This may sound like a bold hope, but it is my ambition to change the media industry, to stop the corrupt and incorrect information that is released. When I was younger, it was my dream to become a journalist and inform the world of the truth of what is going on around the world! I thought this was what a journalist done. However, the older I get, the more I realise how immoral and corrupt the industry is, and until it improves I cannot be a part of it. Okay, that may be seemingly difficult when I am an editor by job title. It should be noted, however, that it is not quite a hypocritical or beneficial move for me. Instead, I am working and learning about the industry from a lower level to try to understand the industry before I can change things. The publication that I work for do not write our own articles, but instead let the industry professionals do the talking and only publishing the facts of a seemingly small industry - intellectual property. If I can break this industry, perhaps we can learn to make the media good again and stop the hatred/corruption.

Please feel free to leave feedback, this is all new to me and I am learning from all of you. Enjoy!
